Turn your draft into a polished manuscript.

No two pieces of writing are alike, but my simple process applies to every project.

My Process:
Love the words, right the writing.

1. Discover

Fill out my contact form and tell more about your writing — this will be a primer for our first conversation. I will contact you within 24 hours to schedule a meeting.

2. Sync

Our meeting is when we really get on the same wavelength with your project’s goals and needs. If we think we’re a good fit for each other, I will take what I’ve learned and provide a quote for the best editing path for your work.

3. Edit

Once we’ve agreed on the plan, I get to do what I love and will communicate as needed along the way.

4. Cheers

I will deliver as promised, and we will celebrate because your work is all you dreamed of and ready for your readers.

Services

My sweet spots are line/copyediting and proofreading.

We’re ready to collaborate when you’ve done a lot of self-editing, settled on big picture issues, developed characters, had beta readers, quite possibly pulled some hair out, etc. In other words, you’re ready to have a fresh mind and set of eyes to go over the details that will make your manuscript sing.

The rates for each are based on freelance industry standards.
Rates are subject to change depending on genre and scope.

Line/Copyediting

2.2¢ per word

I focus on mechanics, flow, tone, and the 5 Cs of copyediting: consistency, conciseness, clarity, correctness, and completeness.

This service covers things like:

  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation

  • Capitalization

  • Word usage and repetition

  • POV/tense

  • Dialogue formatting and tags

  • Paragraphs and spacing

  • Descriptive inconsistencies

  • Basic fact checking

  • Style guide adherence

Proofreading

1.2¢ per word

As the last set of editing eyes on your finalized manuscript (e.g., a formatted PDF), I focus on errors that may still be present, despite all the thorough editing previously performed.

This service covers things like:

  • Misspellings

  • Double words or missing words

  • Inaccurate/inconsistent headers and footers

  • Bad word breaks and hyphenation, widows/orphans and short lines

  • Wrong or bad URLs

  • Incorrect cross-references, table of contents, page numbering

The Final Product

I will provide three things:

  1. The edited file with track changes on.

  2. A clean copy with all changes accepted.

  3. A style sheet and editing summary custom to your manuscript.

Mini Edit

$250 for 2,500 words

Not ready for the full investment of line or copyediting? My Mini Edit service might be the boost you need.

I will edit 2,500 words of your manuscript, and you will still receive the same Final Product items as detailed above.

Mini Edits work for you in two ways:

  1. You may not want to commit to a full edit, so you can use the Final Product items from my Mini Edit to more confidently continue working on your manuscript.

  2. You may decide the Mini Edit is so beneficial that you want to move forward with a full edit. Your $250 investment will be credited to your full edit invoice total.
